Winter Sowing

Every year I start seeds in the basement under lights. This year I am also doing winter sowing which involves sowing seeds outdoors in growing medium in empty gallon milk jugs that are left outdoors. The seeds will germinate when it is the right time. Right now I have 2 types of rudbeckia, spinach, Chinese cabbage, and lettuce started outside, and salvia, lettuce, petunias, onions, and shallots started inside under lights. The onions and shallots have germinated, as has some of the salvia. .
